New episode of The Art Dôme podcast airing next week
The Art Dôme podcast is thrilled to be airing its newest episode next week, a conversation with artist Bill Maggio, recorded on the eve of his new solo exhibition, Time Indefinite. Our conversation includes Bills earliest days as a child growing up on the east side of Buffalo, New York, a career that has spanned over six decades, his trademark tehnique of building and scraping layers from his canvas, that spitirtual nature of artmaking itself.
Time Indefinite brings together current and new works presented adjacent to select works from the late 1990s, revealing a specific and transformative through-line from earlier works that feature large ribbon forms to his more familiar recent works, where that ribbon has mutated into countless tiny ribbons of mark-making. The ribbon suggests a marked path, albeit one that does not pursue an obvious direction. Exhibited alongside Maggio's newer works, we are presented with both the nascent and resolved versions of Maggio's visual language.
